The legend of Santa Claus sprung from the story of a kind hearted man named Nicholas. Having heard of a poor man who was about to send the eldest of his three daughters on the streets to become a prostitute, Nichols secretly threw bags of gold in the window of the man's house, saving the family and providing the girl with a dowry. While tossing the last bag in the window, Nicholas was discovered and became the patron saint of girls without a dowry. The story of his generosity become associated with Christmas and is the basis for our modern Santa Claus. Add this lovely portrait of St. Nick to your holiday tree and bring a touch of holiday magic to your home.
